Hi Christina
I'll try to share my viewpoint here although I might not have the type of answer you are looking for … To be honest, whenever I hear somebody say that Mondays are an unpleasant or intimidating experience to them, then I feel sorry for the Monday as it is a perfectly fine day of the week :-) . Sometimes people give Mondays a bad rap, and the day itself probably does not deserve it … People rather dread the things they will need to do on Mondays - getting up early, going to work, meeting people they don't want to meet, doing things they don't want to do while missing opportunities to do things they enjoy etc., and Monday is just the scapegoat.
And that is kind of sad, I think … I then interpret it in a way that these people fill their weeks with jobs they don't like, or live a life they don't enjoy, and the only thing they can think of on Monday morning is the next weekend when they finally can "be themselves" again. In a way they are wasting 5/7ths of a week in order to enjoy the remaining 2/7ths. To those people, any Monday morning ritual will be useless as it does not change the fact that they are just in survival mode until Friday night.
But I assume that is not your situation and that you are just asking for the little rituals we all have to get the blood pumping. Well, actually I see Mondays as any other day of the week, so I don't really have any specific rituals … However, what I like to do is:
- organise an activity I enjoy for Monday evening (e.g. schedule a gym session or jogging round) so I have something to especially look forward to.
- check my weekly agenda on Sunday evening so I'm mentally prepared for the entire week - and already prepare the stuff I'll need on Monday (e.g. my gym gear) so I have no extra stress on Monday.
Just my two cents - not very helpful I'm afraid …
