I used to work in the VC field. Just saw your post, decided to give my 2 cents.
I think it is great that you are trying to compete in the area of innovation to explain your ideas to people who might fund it.

Fundamentally, you just want to remember that investors need to do that leap of faith that you can make something out of nothing. Therefore, your planning that makes the picture beautiful and possible is vital to convincing the people who has money. Remember, they typically want to fund something they can believe in and ideally don't want to lose their monies.
