I just happened across this article, which is a very thoughtfully written dissection of what, for many of us, is a critical question relating to our use of the internet. In short (and it's NOT short) the author proposes that we are indeed looking for community online, but many of the online communities that are most popular have become so large and sprawling that our desire to connect with the right people and share the right experiences has eluded us. One of our hopes in building ConnectBGS is that we will be "right-sized" and that the opportunity to become involved with others who, like you, have been recognized as top notch business school students will be appreciated and rewarding.

If you have a chance, please read this and let me know what you think!

The year we wanted the internet to be smaller

    Thanks

This is a very interesting article! I think given the recent developments and findings with regards to mental health, abusive behavior, and manipulation on social media it makes sense that people would seek alternatives. The idea of smaller, yet more tight knit communities is a very appealing one. This is something the likes of Facebook and Twitter cannot offer as of yet.

We have a unique opportunity as a community to build and discuss what is of interest to us. This is more in line with what the article discussed on niche communities.

    Thanks for sharing!
