My name is Alexandria Walker, and I am a BGS member of the DePaul University chapter. I am reaching out on behalf of the Young Associates Board Greater which I currently serve on with Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital Chicago to share with you an opportunity to help in the fight against Pediatric Brain Tumors. Pediatric Brain Tumors Brain tumors are abnormal growths of cells that occur in a child's brain or the central nervous system. More than 4,000 brain and spinal cord tumors are diagnosed in children and teens each year.
The Young Associates Board is the legacy organization of the former Gus Foundation at Lurie Children's Hospital which is ranked as the top pediatric hospital in Illinois and in the U.S. Our board helps children and families impacted by pediatric brain tumors through fundraising events that generate funding and awareness towards care and advancing research toward a cure. This September, we will be hosting our signature event, Run For Gus, which will be presented by Deloitte and held virtually this year. Run for Gus is a 5k/1mile walk fundraiser named in honor of Gus Evangelides who passed away from a malignant brain tumor at the age of 21 months.
I am writing to ask if members within the BGS community would consider joining me in the fight against pediatric brain tumors by joining my team Warriors For Gus as a corporate sponsor to help me raise $1,000 towards my fundraising initiatives? This event draws in more than 1,200 participants each year and every dollar raised helps to fund research as well as provide support services and world-class care for child patients and their families. There are a number of ways you can support me in the fight against pediatric brain tumors:
- Join My Fundraising team – Our annual signature fundraising event, Run for Gus will take place virtually this September 16th followed by an afterparty at Diversey Harbor, which attracts about 1,200 participants. Join me in raising $1,000 in the fight against pediatric brain tumors by joining my team Here. There is no minimum- or maximum for your support and you can recruit other leaders within your company and participants to help us reach this goal.
- Recruit other organizations to Join Us- You can recruit other organizations, student groups, and participants to join Warriors For Gus to better maximize our fundraising efforts towards reaching the $1,000 goal in the fight against pediatric brain tumors.
- Making a Personal Donation – Every dollar raised for this fundraising event gets us one step closer to finding new treatments, improving care, and discovering breakthroughs that lead to cures in pediatric brain tumors. Help me in reaching my fundraising goal by making a donation on my Fundraising page.
As a nonprofit hospital, Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital depends on donations to provide a healthier future for every child. This board and the work that we do with Lurie Children's hospital has been incredibly meaningful to me. I hope that you will consider supporting me in the fight against pediatric brain tumors to continue the mission of providing patients and families at Lurie Children's with a brighter and healthier future.
Thanks so much for your attention, and for all you do to give back to our community. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
Please feel free to share this with your friends, family, colleagues, network, and other community members. The more we raise, the bigger the impact :)
