How do you make the world a better place? We want to hear from you!

At BGS HQ, we're renewing our focus on positively impacting the world around us. Through the BGS Gives Back Program, thousands of BGS members have participated in volunteering initiatives in their communities and we want to take that impact to the next level. This summer, our team is completing training on the UN's Sustainable Development goals and we're challenging ourselves to identify additional ways to positively affect our communities.

We want to hear from our members! What are you doing to impact the world around you? Have you identified ways to volunteer remotely during COVID? Are you working toward one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals? Share your story with us for a chance to be featured on the BGS blog or on our social media!

    Hi Christina,

My name is Alexandria and I am with the DePaul BGS Chapter. Giving back and serving others has always been a passion of mine. As a member of several nonprofit organizations that are geared towards helping various Chicago communities and advocating for a number of causes that are impacting our communities, volunteer work and philanthropy is needed now more than ever. I would like to share an opportunity with you and other BGS community leaders in how you can help impact the world around you.

I am a Young Associate's Board member with Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, and I wanted to share the incredible work that I am doing on behalf of my board in hopes that you will support my fundraising initiatives further.

The Young Associates Board serves as the legacy organization of the former Gus Foundation at Lurie Children's Hospital and continues to support children with brain tumors through special events and the TEAM Beads of Courage program. With more than 4,000 children being diagnosed with brain and spinal cord tumors each year, we generate awareness and funding that helps towards finding new treatments, improving care, and discovering breakthroughs that lead to cures in pediatric brain tumors.

This September, we will be hosting our signature event, Run For Gus, named in honor of Gus Evangelides who passed away from a malignant brain tumor at the age of 21 months. Run for Gus, presented by Deloitte, is a 5k/1mile virtual race to beat pediatric brain tumors drawing in more than 1,200 participants each year in support of kids battling brain tumors at Lurie Children's Hospital.

I wanted to ask if you and other BGS community leaders if you would consider joining me in the fight against pediatric brain tumors by joining my team Warriors For Gus to participate in our virtual race fundraiser or by making a gift donation to my Fundraising Page . Your support can help fuel life-saving research, provide support services, and world-class care for children and families of Lurie Children's Hospital.

As a nonprofit hospital, Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital depends on donations to provide a healthier future for every child. This board and the work that we do with Lurie Children's hospital has been incredibly meaningful for me. I hope that you will consider joining me and my board in the fight against pediatric brain tumors so that patients and families at Lurie Children's will have an opportunity for a brighter and healthier future.

    Thank you for your support
