Welcome our new Detroit Area Alumni Chapter!

Last month, BGS’ Detroit Alumni Networking Group became the Detroit Area Alumni Chapter! Member Lydia Michael, who’s the first president of the new chapter—and a speaker at the Global Leadership Summit next month—held the September 18 chartering ceremony at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Beta Gamma Sigma's CEO, Chris Carosella, was there to install the organization's 32nd alumni chapter.

What’s the difference between an alumni networking group and an alumni chapter? More than you’d think. Alumni networking groups are more informal and unstructured, but they don’t have access to as many benefits as an established chapter (like funding grants, chapter-sponsored scholarships and more).

Want to join an alumni chapter or networking group? Email the contact person associated with that group for more information. (Don't see one near you? Contact DeAmbra to set one up!)

Is ethics important?

These days, the news is full of stories about leaders in business and politics who are facing charges based on their unethical decisions. Prove to employers that you won’t be one of them by completing the Ethical Leadership Certification Program. (This program is currently only

Plan your end-of-year volunteering activities now!

As leaders in business, we have to lead by example—and that means making time to give back to your community. Talk to your chapter about organizing an end-of-year food or supply drive, completing a volunteer activity with youth like Junior Achievement, or taking up a collection for a charity of your choice.

To maximize your impact, reach out to a nearby alumni or collegiate chapter (or another organization) near you and work together to make the world a little bit better, whether you’re helping people, animals or the environment.

And don’t forget: tell us about your BGS Gives Back activities and your collegiate chapter will earn Honor Roll points.
