Courage in Action: How to take more risks and own your brilliance in school and beyond

Your success in college and in your career depends on your ability to speak up, show up, and step forward even when it feels uncomfortable.

In this engaging and practical presentation, you'll learn how to manage fear, activate your courage, and take worthwhile risks that help you stand out in class, on campus, and in the workplace. You'll walk away with a repeatable process to help you own your brilliance and create opportunities for growth, leadership, and impact wherever you go.

Presented by Grant S. Moise

In an era dominated by social media, generative AI, and polarized cable news, trust in the media has never been more strained or more important. This session invites you to take a closer look at the forces shaping our information landscape and the critical role that trusted journalism plays in a healthy democracy.

Through an engaging exploration of what defines media today, distinguishing platforms from sources, influencers from journalists and real news from AI-generated content, attendees will gain insight into how misinformation and disinformation spread and how to recognize them.

The presentation also addresses why media skepticism has grown, how it impacts public perception, and how professional newsrooms like The Dallas Morning News are working to earn back public trust through transparency, accountability, and open dialogue with their communities. Participants will leave with practical tools to critically evaluate news sources, understand media standards, and become more informed, discerning media consumers.

Presented by Irvin Ashford Jr.

This engaging and insightful presentation will explore the evolving landscape of leadership and the critical role humanity plays in shaping the future of work. Drawing from his own journey to becoming a senior leader in corporate America, Irv will share three key lessons that have defined his career and continue to shape his leadership approach today.

Industry Insights: Navigating Disruption with Experience and Perspective

Join a dynamic panel of University of Dallas MBA and MS alumni, now seasoned professionals in accounting, cybersecurity, finance, and entrepreneurship, as they reflect on how their fields are adapting to rapid change.

From AI to evolving regulations, panelists will explore today’s biggest threats and emerging opportunities through the lens of real-world experience and a strategic SWOT perspective.

Meet the Panelists

In this hands-on service session, attendees will create handwritten cards or bookmarks for local youth, featuring poems, song lyrics, or quotes that have personally inspired them.

Each card or bookmark will include a short message of encouragement and be decorated with care. By sharing the power of words, participants will offer connection, hope, and inspiration to young readers in the community.
